Rescue Cove Quest Walkthrough

The Rescue Cove! quest is the mid-forest crisis that reunites Hills with Micoco and forces a three-person raid against Tentacle Alpha. It sits downstream of Cove's mushroom chain and upstream of several potion-dependent boss checks — and until Ver.1.0.15 it could repeat annoyingly if you accepted objectives out of order. This walkthrough lists the intended sequence, patch context, and fight prep so you clear the arc once and move on toward ED.1.

Community gameplay — use alongside this guide when routing Cove's forest arc and Tentacle Alpha.

Quest Overview and Prerequisites

Rescue Cove! activates after Cove's early gather chain completes and forest cult activity escalates. You need:

  • Condition 2 met — Cove met and mushroom quest finished before Night 6 (Cove profile).
  • City Forest access from Port District forest gate.
  • Micoco available through Reda's Condition 1 chain (All Endings table).
  • Recommended: Sika potions brewed from Cove materials before raid night.

The quest is story-mandatory for true-route conspiracy exposure — skipping or failing it does not instantly end the game, but it blocks optimal potion prep and risks bad ending branches if you enter Tentacle Alpha under-geared.

Step Order (Post–v1.0.15)

Follow this sequence on Ver.1.0.15 or later to avoid repeat prompts fixed in the July 6, 2026 patch:

  1. Forest scout — Enter City Forest from Port; confirm Cove camp fast travel if v1.0.8+ material handoff already done.
  2. Missing Cove scene — Trigger the blue Town Guide event showing Cove absent from camp; accept Rescue Cove from journal.
  3. Micoco rendezvous — Meet Micoco at the forest rendezvous pin the same day phase the guide indicates (usually afternoon into evening).
  4. Trail investigation — Clear investigation nodes in order: torn fabric → slime trail → cult totem. Do not backtrack to Port mid-chain unless the guide resets — pre-v1.0.15 this caused duplicate quest acceptance.
  5. Pre-raid camp — Use Sika potions, save on a fresh slot (Save Points), and select the raid prompt once.
  6. Tentacle Alpha — Fixed party Hills + Micoco + Cove; see Boss Strategies Tentacle Alpha section.
  7. Post-raid — Return to Cove camp for resolution dialogue; verify journal marks Rescue Cove complete before sleeping.

If the quest reappears after step 7 on an old build, update to v1.0.15 — do not accept duplicate journal entries or inventory may duplicate quest flags visually.

Ver.1.0.15 Bug Fix Explained

Steam patch notes for Ver.1.0.15 (July 6, 2026) list: "fix for the Rescue Cove! quest repeating under specific order." Community reports before the patch described:

  • Accepting the raid prompt before finishing trail investigation nodes.
  • Leaving forest for Port tavern mid-chain, then re-entering — especially after care package delivery same day.
  • Loading autosave between investigation and raid on the same evening.

The fix locks quest stage progression so duplicate acceptance cannot re-add the objective. Players on v1.0.14 or earlier should update before attempting Rescue Cove, or follow strict no-leave-forest discipline and reload if the journal shows two active Rescue Cove headers.

Related QoL in the same patch: clearer hints before key events and boss battles — Tentacle Alpha now flashes an extra confirmation when selecting the raid node.

Tentacle Alpha Prep

The raid is a DPS and add-control check, not a puzzle. Minimum prep:

  • Two Sika potions from Cove materials (fallback brewing rules v1.0.13 if gather partially failed).
  • Micoco Trust high enough for assist dialogue — not a hard gate, but low Trust removes pre-fight buff line.
  • Hills guard build or evasion counter for bind status from tentacle adds.
  • Micoco Ultimate Endless Rampage available — save meter for Phase 1 add waves.

Cove must be alive and in party — her regen passive keeps long Phase 2 sustainable. See full rotation notes on Boss Strategies and Cove for affinity bonuses on gather yields if you need extra potions.

After Rescue Cove — Route Consequences

Completing Rescue Cove unlocks continued forest visits, extra Cove affinity scenes, and stable potion economy into mid-game bosses. Failure or reload loops waste AP but do not alone fail ED.1 if Condition 2 flag already registered — however, under-prepared wipes can spike exposure or cost consumables needed for Albert and later Slums fights.

Continue main conspiracy threads per How to Complete and verify all three Conditions on All Endings before Day 9 night. Port return visits restock Ingredient Packs (Old Coin ×2) if forest yields dip — Port District cooking hub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I do Rescue Cove before meeting Micoco?

No. Micoco rendezvous is a mandatory step in the quest chain tied to Condition 1 progress.

Why does Rescue Cove keep appearing in my journal?

Likely pre-v1.0.15 repeat bug or out-of-order steps. Update to Ver.1.0.15 and follow the step list above; reload before duplicate acceptance if needed.

What if I lose to Tentacle Alpha?

Retry same evening on most difficulties. Stock extra potions, read the Tentacle Alpha section on Boss Strategies, and ensure Micoco uses Endless Rampage on add waves.

Is Rescue Cove required for ED.1?

Condition 2 (early Cove meet) is required. Rescue Cove itself is the forest arc payoff — skipping it cripples potion prep and may block conspiracy flags depending on story progress. Treat it as mandatory on checklist runs.
